This historic “grand dame” hotel on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution was built in 1881. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was the first hotel in the world to have electric lights, courtesy of Thomas Edison, son-in-law of Chautauqua Institution founder Lewis Miller.
