One of the most ideally situated schools imaginable, the Pepperdine University sits atop a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The private institution is subject to a good deal of criticism for being a beach-going and partying school, but the students and faculty here just attribute that to jealousy. Established in the early 70s and affiliated with the Church of Christ, the university's graduate schools, particularly the business and law schools, have made a name for themselves over the last few decades. The Firestone Fieldhouse is located on the campus of the Pepperdine University that is perched upon a hill crest overlooking the ocean. This versatile area is primarily used for basketball and volleyball courts but it also can host lectures, meetings, graduation ceremonies and concerts. The 11,000 square feet floor area was changed from rubber to wood in 1992 after a spate of renovations. Sufficient lockers rooms, wash rooms and concession stands make this venue fully-functional and sought-after.
Expo Arts Center is a must-visit for art aficionados visiting Long Beach. The 27000 square feet (2508 feet) venue hosts a number of events and exhibitions centered about art as a theme. Apart from displays of art works, the center is extended for several cultural events.
