"Imposing Structure"
Situated inside a sprawling complex created by Sultan Bayezid, Bayezid I Mosque dates back to the 14th Century. The mosque building remains noted for its stunning architecture, narthex, stone facades and the Bursa bow which is used in this region for the very first time. Inside the mosque, one can marvel at the charming glazed-tile fittings and ornate stalactite works. In the 1855 earthquake, Bayezid I Mosque's minaret suffered damage and in the year 1963, a new minaret was erected separately. Unlike Bursa's other similar praying houses, this mosque has been built completely with dimension stones.
