Cairo International Airport, like the city itself, is known for its chaos and inefficiency. There are two main terminals: Terminal 1 is used by Egypt Air and most regional carriers, while the newer Terminal 2 is used by Western European and North American airlines. The experience can be intimidating for first-time visitors. The lengthy immigration lines and sluggish baggage claim inside the terminal give way to frantic crowds and aggressive touts outside. With a little know-how; however, procedures are actually quite easy. Egypt Air offers a 24-hour free shuttle service to cover the three kilometers (two miles) between Terminals 1 and 2.
