Ramses Station

Easily accessible by bus, microbus or Metro, bustling Ramses Station is the starting point for most trains leaving Cairo. The information booth in the center of the main hall sometimes has English-speaking staff, which can make a big difference given that schedules are listed only in Arabic. Platforms to the right serve Alexandria, the Delta and the Canal cities, while the platforms at the rear of the main hall serve Upper Egyptian destinations. Tickets are sold at various booths according to destination and service, but should be purchased at least two days in advance for Upper Egyptian cities. Hotels and travel agencies can also arrange the tickets for a nominal fee.
