Al Azhar Park

Al Azhar Park was Aga Khan's donation to the city. With a dearth of green spaces in Cairo, these sprawling 30 hectares (74 acres) boasts verdant gardens, regal fountains, tree-lined paths, an amphitheater, as well as several dining alternatives. Its hilly topography is courtesy of centuries of debris accumulated at its base. The altitude gives way to breathtaking 360-degree views of the historic district. The 12th-century Ayyubid wall, constructed during Salah El Din's reign, is one of the landscape's highlights. A perennial buzz of locals and tourists make it one of the best public parks in the world.
