Grindstone Lake Recreation Area

Grindstone Lake Recreation Area is a picnic area and campground located around the beautiful Grindstone Lake. Pillow's Funtrackers

Pillow's Funtrackers is an exciting indoor and outdoor attraction that has become a popular weekend destination for families in the Southwest. Smokey Bear Historical Park

The Smokey Bear Historical Park was named after a little bear cub called Smokey whose paws were burnt in a fire that ravaged through the Smokey Mountains in 1950's. Fort Stanton Historic Site

A grand military establishment of the 19th Century, Fort Stanton Historic Site leads visitors on a tour of New Mexico’s history. Tourists spend the day exploring its expansive grounds, numerous buildings, and the onsite museum. Fort Stanton Museum is a good place to start to learn about the history of the site that was once a military fortification but later served the as a hospital, a camp for detainees during World War II and as a low security prison. The facility has a gift shop and hosts educational events, and guided tours. The occasional live history programs on the estate are a perfect blend of information and entertainment. Outdoor enthusiasts who like mountain bike rides, hiking and horse back riding will find plenty of trails to choose from.

Old Lincoln County Courthouse

No one could say that this quiet town was the site of the most violent times in the history of New Mexico. Lincoln takes you back in time as nothing is changed here, it seems like time froze in the 1880s. The Old Lincoln County Courthouse is now a museum that displays the Lincoln County War details, its history from a store to courthouse and jail. It was the the place where Billy the Kid, the most notorious outlaw in the American Old West was held. Trace the steps where he made his famous escape. Or read some of his handwritten letters to Governor Lew Wallace pleading his defence.
