"Physicist Maxwell's House"

Home of the eminent scientist and professor, James Clerk Maxwell, the Glenlair House has an odd rural charm. It is not the most beautiful structure to look at, yet it is extremely captivating. It is based on a large estate of 52 hectares (120 acres) and a large part of the estate is covered with semi-natural woodland. The house was greatly damaged by a fire in 1929. Since then an effort is being made to preserve the remains. It still remains a reminiscence of the past.
