Used mainly for children’s theatrical productions, Robert Kirk Walker Community Theater is a cozy theater offering reclinable seats for about 700 people. It comes with its own restrooms, refreshment counters and a lobby area for the comfort of its patrons. Besides theatrical performances by children, the venue is also a popular choice with school groups. Varied events like dance performances, recitals and even spoken word events are common.
This is one of the most popular attractions in town, and with good reason. As the IMAX folks say, "It's so real...it's unreal!" The enormous six-story building houses the largest IMAX theater screen in the country. Sony's visual and audio technology was incorporated to bring viewers crystal clear images and lifelike sound. The effect? You no longer feel like you are watching a movie. You feel like your name should be in the closing credits.
Mirroring Chattanooga’s unique heritage and the transformations that have taken place over time, Fort Wood is located close to the Eastern boundaries of Chattanooga of 1838. It was taken over by the city in 1851. During 1900 and 1910, Fort Wood gained prominence as an affluent neighborhood and many esteemed citizens built their homes here. The area still retain its charm and is beautifully lined with trees, and the structures are fine examples of the early 20th-century styles of architecture.
