Jonathan Smart Gallery

Operating for 13 years in the central city, the Jonathan Smart Gallery sells and exhibits the leading edge in contemporary New Zealand artists. Despite its upstairs location, the gallery area is surprisingly large. A particular strength of the collection is in photography, in addition to a wide variety of pictorial, sculptural and installation works. There is beauty but also wit, irony and intellectual play in the exhibits, as well as a touch of the Pacific influence.
