Villa Manin

Villa Manin was built between the 17th and 18th Centuries commissioned by the Manin family, a powerful family of doges and high dignitaries of the Serenissima that had its representational seat here. The interior is a triumph of plastercasts, marble and frescoes, the work of the Frenchman Ludovico Dorigny. Today, somewhat neglected evidence of its former glory remains in the park to the rear of the villa, the extensive gardens and meadows, water fountains allegorical statues of mythological inspiration, with rare and exotic touches. Annexed to the complex is the octagonal chapel, an imitation of the Madonna della Salute in Venice, with sculptures by Giuseppe Torretti. Visitors can visit the museum of carriages and arms as well as the various exhibitions that are periodically held here.
