Ethnographic Museum

Step into this unique museum that features some of the missing pieces in Romanian history. Ethnographic Museum provides a unique insight into the life of the Hungarian people. The museum comprises five rooms featuring tools, weapons and other artefacts that were used by the people of the town before the second half of the 19th century. By the end of the 13th century, Rimetea became an important center of craftsmanship. The village was initially a town and several Austrian and Szeklers craftsmen were invited here to exploit and process iron ore. However, iron ore started to deplete by the end of the 19th century, resulting in the decline of this prosperous town. The details of the glorious town which got lost in time are featured in the Ethnographic Museum.

St. Michael's Church, Cluj-Napoca

St. Michael’s Church is located in the geographical region of Transylvania, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Constructed in Gothic-style architecture, the second-largest church in the region with a simple exterior facade, sloping roofs and a spire extending into the sky. The tower has a height of about 76 meters (249.344 feet) and the nave about 50 meters (164.042 feet) long. The coats of arms of Sigismund I is on the western portal and inside the church are remains of frescoes and a vaulting system. The newest part of the tower is the clock tower which was built in Gothic Revival style.

Transfiguration Cathedral, Cluj-Napoca

The Transfiguration Cathedral is a Greek-Catholic cathedral also called Minorites Church. It is located on Eroilor Street and built by Franciscan Minor Conventual Friors. The tower of the church was rebuilt on the front side by architect Eberhard Blaumann. The church is built in simplified Baroque style and adorned in Byzantine style. The frescoes inside the church have been painted by Francis Lohr and restored by Coriolan Munteanu. The windows are stained glass and the altar and windows have the heraldic of Franciscan Order.

Piarist Church

The Piarist Church is also called University church or Jesuit Church. It is located at Universitatii in Cluj-Napoca and dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It was the first Roman catholic church built in Transylvania and also the province’s first Baroque church building. The church has two clock towers, three narrow vertical windows above the entrance and a main door with rich ornamentation. Over the main door is also the bas-relief of the Trinity. The interior of the church is well-ornamented with three chapels on the sides each having its own altar and several paintings.

Cluj-Napoca Neolog Synagogue

The Neolog Synagogue is located on Horea Street in Cluj-Napcoa, Romania. It was built by architect Izidor Hegner for the Neolog Congregation, damaged by the Legionnaires and was rebuilt later by the Romanian government. The synagogue is dedicated to the victims of the holocaust and is the only working synagogue serving the local Jewish community. The building is styled in Moorish art and has the name “The Deported Memorial Temple”.

Cluj-Napoca Franciscan Church

The Franciscan Church in Cluj-Napoca is a Roman-catholic church located in Cluj-Napoca. Situated on Museum Square or Piata Muzeului which was previously known as Little Square to differentiate it from Market Square, traces of the Roman city were found here during excavations. It is considered as one of the oldest and significant buildings it was enlarged in Gothic style and a monastery was built near it which is no longer of religious use. The monastery still consists of library, common room and administrative space. The Franciscans restored the church and tower in Baroque style.
