Built in the year 1834, De Zwaluw is the third windmill to stand on Van Echtenstraat. The first 1714 mill was destroyed in a fire and the mill built to replace it met with the same fate in 1833, leaving only the base still standing. The mill which stands today is a restored version of this 1834 mill which underwent repeated renovation in 1947, 1961 and 1978. The mill is tall with a seven story structure: a four layered base and a three level smock with a stage running around the third story of the brick base.
De Bente is a smocked mill first built in the year 1814, to replace an earlier structure which had been burned down in a fire. However, this mill, too, was demolished, leaving behind only the two levels of the base. This base was made a part of the modern structure which came up in the place of the old mill. The smock of this mill has eight sides and five stories of which two form the base. The mill open is for public visits three days a week and can also be rented for birthday parties.
