Henderson Waves

Singapore is known for its extraordinary urban design projects but Henderson Waves takes the cake. Designed by IJP Corporation and RSP Architects Planners and Engineers, at an elevation of 36 meters (118 feet), it is the country's highest pedestrian-only bridge. It is part of Southern Ridges, an elevated trail composed of walkways and connecting bridges, built over lush greenery of South Singapore's parks. This bridge connects Telok Blangah Hill Park to Mount Faber Park. Henderson Waves is aptly named because it is made up of seven steel ribs that rise and fall alternately like the waves of the ocean. The steel frames are decked with closely grouped slats of yellow balau wood and timber. At daytime, the bridge has a pleasing white tone. However, after 7p, it is lit by golden lights and appears like a golden dragon twisting through the sky. Call the tourist information office or toll free number +1 800 471 7300 for more information.
