This Late Renaissance building was completed in 1698 and was the third town hall to stand here on the Limmatquai. Now it is the only building apart from the Helm House and the Water Church to stand directly beside the Limmat on this side of the river. A Rococo tower stove dating back to 1763 and the Baroque hall, which is decorated with an ornate stucco ceiling and oil paintings, are particularly interesting.

Originally documented in the year 1324, this historic tower was rumored to be a residential tower built by the Bilgeri family sometime between 1250 and 1280. While the residing family is long gone, the tower has withstood the test of time and still greets visitors with its picturesque facade and imposing roof, not to mention the timepiece embedded on to its topmost portion. The Grimmenturm is one of the few residential towers to exist in Zurich during the Middle Ages. Presently, the tower houses the Neumarkt restaurant in a portion of its premises.

Dating back to the 14th Century, Manegg Castle has served as the main residence of Manesse house members. The house was originally occupied by a merchant family known to have been the richest clan in Zürich during the medieval times. Towards the end of the 14th Century, the family's fortunes declined and Manegg Castle was eventually sold off in 1393. A fire destroyed the castle 1409 and it was never restored. Today, only a few ruins of the castle exist on the east incline of the Albis mountain range.

Soaring well above the Töss River, Kyburg Castle is one of the most significant feudal establishments in Switzerland. This grand castle is surrounded by dense forests on all four sides, resembling a regal dot on an emerald canvas. The sprawling fortress has been classified as a Swiss heritage site of national importance, in no small part due to its antiquity. The counts of Winterthur, a Swabian noble family that ruled during the 10th and 11th Centuries, are credited with likely constructing the site's first fortification. The castle is further ornamented by the garden of the Wife of the High Bailiff, where blooming plants and aromatic herbs mingle in a riot of scents and colors. The first castle museum in Switzerland, the Kyburg Castle is tastefully adorned with ancient wooden beams, murals and an elaborate permanent exhibition which lends insights into life during the Middle Ages. It also sheds light on the sheer might of the Kyburgers, Habsburgers and Zurchers, the region's rulers. From the attic and the medieval court of justice to the pantry and the banquet, every nook of this castle is a stirring journey into the history of this Swiss landmark.
