One of the greatest names in St. Louis restaurants, Kemoll's has been in business for more than 60 years. Relocated to a posh downtown office building from its original home in North St. Louis, Kemoll's has lost a little of the cozy feel of the old place, yet it has gained a reputation for food and service that is better than ever. It offers upscale Italian cuisine and can be counted on for the quality of its pasta, veal, beef and seafood. Although Kemoll's is popular for its early dinner plates, it also serves lunch for groups. They are open from Mondays to Saturdays at 5p.
With an upscale classy ambiance, Elaia is one of the hidden treasures of St.Louis. Located at the intersection of Tower Grove and McRee Avenue, this luxurious fine dining restaurant, serves an elaborate menu of Mediterranean cuisine and wines. Beautifully decorated interiors and along with mood lighting makes Elaia perfect for those romantic and intimate dinners. Charred octopus, celery root tortellini, Scottish salmon and Chouquette are some of the most delectable dishes on their menu. An impressive list of fine-aged wines is available to complement the elaborate meal. Their sister restaurant, Olio is just located next door, which also serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes in a casual and laid-back environment.
Truffles caters to a fashionable West County crowd, serving fine French and Mediterranean cuisine in elegantly beautiful surroundings. Richly polished wood dominates the decor, particularly in the long, impressive bar. The appetizers live up to the restaurant's lavish interior, highlighted by a delicately flavored Atlantic salmon with mascarpone cheese and crab cakes topped with a champagne and Dijon mustard sauce. Lobster Thermidor is a specialty and consists of lobster pieces mixed with portobello mushrooms and porcini in a savory white sauce. Try the house specialty, Veal Scalapini, or the lobster ravioli with a spicy tomato and basil sauce flavored with cognac.
