Regal Theatre is located in the suburban district of Subiaco, Perth. Built on the very same site where the Coliseum Theater once stood, this theater opened its doors on 27th April 1938. The cinema was demolished in 1971 in order to build shops; since then Regal Theater has been operating as a live theater with a stage that hosts diverse genres of performing arts ranging from acts, shows, dances to musicals.
The "Fly" has been around since 1988 and has become a reputable alternative venue. Although originally opened as a club for musical performances, it is now also the venue for a host of activities, ranging from theater to comedy. Past performers include Michelle Shocked, Luka Bloom, Janis Ian, Long John Baldry, Jungle Funk, Donovan and Dave Hole. It is usually opens about four nights per week, depending on performance bookings. The venue is licensed, smoke-free and open until late. Admission varies.
