Kings Park & Botanic Garden

Flocked by over five million people every year, the King's Park & Botanic Garden is one of the most popular destinations of Western Australia. Nestled along the shores of Swan River, the park faces the bustling Central Business District of the city. Sprawling across a massive area of 400 hectares (990 acres), the park boasts of national monuments and memorials. Tranquil pathways lined with a variety of Eucalyptus trees lead to dramatic vantage points, vibrant flowerbeds or grassy meadows where locals and tourists bask under the glorious sun. The park's major attraction is its colorful botanical garden, boasting of 2000 species of endemic flora. A recreational hub, the park plays host to several flower festivals, exhibitions, and live music performances. Come nightfall, the park is the perfect place to enjoy the bedazzled skyline of the city juxtaposed against the starry night sky.

Cottesloe Beach

The sprawling white beaches in Perth are sensational, this one tends to be particularly popular. Regular swimmers, picnicking families and sun-bakers frequent Cottlesloe. It also offers a wonderful choice of locations to watch the sunset. Enjoy spectacular views across the Indian Ocean from one of the many cafes and restaurants along Marine Parade or from a tranquil spot on the sand. At the southern end of the beach, a reasonably sheltered reef proves a great spot for snorkeling. The main beach area has showers and toilets.

Hillarys Boat Harbour

A sparkling harbor on the Indian Ocean, this popular tourist precinct is a top-notch destination perfect for dining, cocktails, splendid harbor vistas, and gilded sunsets. Tucked away in its serene waterfront are a melange of shops, restaurants and bars, as well as premier enclaves like the Hillarys Yacht Club. Since 1988, it has been the city's preferred spot for recreation, offering opportunities that range from serene lounging to exciting sightseeing. Apart from being mecca for relaxation, it also acts as the gateway to Rottnest Island. Whether it is locally-made ice cream that one fancies, or a simple wish to enjoy some wine while soaking in ocean vistas, Hillarys Boat Harbour is designed to cater to every need.

John Forrest National Park

Nestled in the Darling scarp, the John Forrest National Park is a wooded wonderland of Australia. One of the oldest reserve areas of Western Australia, it was established in the year 1957. Steeped in history, it was inhabited by Nyoongar people before Europeans colonized the area and is also alluded to a mythological serpent. Known for retaining its original state, the park's vegetation is largely endemic with jarrah and marri forests found in majority. Over 10 mammal species and 91 bird species have found their homes in the premises of the park. The best way to spot kangaroos and expanse of scenic wildflowers are through the hiking trails that go through the park. John Forrest National Park offers a tavern to unwind and several picnic areas complete with barbecues.

Perth Observatory

Explore the sky, by day or night, at the Perth Observatory. Situated on Mount Gungin in the picturesque Darling Ranges, the observatory is both an informative and an enjoyable outing. Founded in 1896, it was moved from its original home at The Old Perth Observatory on Mount Eliza (near Kings Park) to its present location in the 1960s. Star viewing sessions take place from October to May in the Observatory's viewing facility. Scheduled tours (day and night) organized by appointment.
