Samādhi Vegan Vegetarian Restaurant

Samādhi specializes in vegetarian and vegan dishes that are cooked in the South-east Asian style. The menu changes daily and hence no two visits are the same. Seated in the cozy dining room or on the charming patio with potted plants, guests can savor a selection of Thai curries, soups, fried noodles and tempura. It has served dishes such as Seaweed Salad dressed with lime juice and sesame oil, Vegetable Tempura soaked in sweet and sour sauce, and How–Mok, a dish made from steamed vegetables and served on banana leaves. The tranquil and naturalistic ambiance and the unusual recipes make this restaurant a good alternative for vegans.

They are also well know for their Wagenburger, a vegetarian burger, and fries to complete your meal. Using mostly organic ingredients and vegan or vegetarian sauces, this is fast food without the guilty conscience afterwards! -Cassandra Bron

Vux

Though a mere five-minute stroll away, the cobbled, green and picturesque Richardstrasse is as far removed in atmosphere from the bustling and metropolitan Karl-Marx-Straße as it is possible to imagine. What better location for a small, quaint and cozy café? The Brazilian-themed vegan café Vux transmits a tangible aura of calm with its minimalist and predominately white furniture and paintings. A variety of fresh, homemade and appetizing bagels, salads and soups await the hungry visitor, to be followed by lovingly-prepared, postcard-pretty cookies, waffles and cakes. The service is relaxed and appropriately unrushed, for this is the perfect place to while away a lazy afternoon. -Thomas Miodrag
