The Crossroads Arts District is filled with exceptional restaurants and The Jacobson is just another addition to this lively area. The bar/restaurant features American comfort food fused with some new twists, for example, the house burger is topped with a short-rib marmalade, bone marrow butter and crispy onion straws. Moreover, the spot is open for lunch and dinner and also has a wonderful bar that serves hand-crafted cocktails. Check website for complete menu and specials, like their 'Mingle Hour' which runs from 3-6pm and features some delectable small bites.
If you like better-than-average pub grub and a nice single-malt scotch, there is no better place than Harry's. This unpretentious spot in the River Market area is always filled with happy locals out on the patio (when weather allows) with a beer or cocktail in hand. The jukebox and amply stocked whiskey bar are two other reasons why people love this place, the latter provides a whiskey menu that has almost every scotch imaginable. From the Highlands and Islay to the Islands and Speyside, you are sure to find one you like.
Char Bar located in Kansas City, is a BBQ restaurant and bar. This fun and lively eatery has a spacious indoor seating as well as a sprawling 10,000-square foot (929 square meters) beer garden, with a number of games including bocce, lawn croquet and ping-pong! Enjoy delicious barbecue dishes like brisket, burnts ends and ribs among others. This is a great place for a meal with friends or just for a really fun night out. Wash down your food with a drink choosing from their wide selection of local craft beers and cocktails served in mason-jars.
A haven for cocktail and whiskey lovers, Julep Cocktail Club is not just your average local bar. They have a fine range of whiskeys, crafty cocktails and other mixed drinks served to patrons in a tastefully done up ambiance. The 'wall of whiskey' is what catches your eye as you settle down here-several bottles of fine whiskeys are attractively stashed from top to bottom. The food menu is quite impressive as well and complements the drinks perfectly. Must try on the menu is their white rum special Kiowa Cooler, toothsome crab cakes and the heavenly Jude's Rum Cake.
The Lounge at Bluestem is located in the popular restaurant of the same name and it's a great spot to try some cocktails and quick bites without the full sit-down service. Despite the fact that Bluestem does have a James Beard award winning chef, the service at the bar is no less stellar than what you will find at a table, it's just a little less procedural. The daily happy hour is the best time to come in and try what you want without breaking the bank, but it seems as if everyone in KC knows this because it is always packed.
