Casanova Italian Restaurant & Deli

Named "the best food and entertainment combo in Maui" by Zagat's Restaurant Survey, this lively eatery features energetic dancing and live music upcountry. The sprawling dining area with the bar at one end turns into one of Maui's hottest nightclubs after hours. A huge wooden sun-deck is great for lounging and people-watching in the daytime. The menu features a nice selection of salads (made with organic greens), wood-fired pizzas and delectable homemade pastas smothered in rich sauces and savory meats.

Five Palms Restaurant

This romantic, open-air restaurant provides a panoramic view of the world-famous Wailea coastline. Come for the Early Bird Special, and catch a glorious Maui sunset. The special comes with an entree, salad, potatoes and Molokai Sweet Potato Cheesecake. For a splurge, the Puhelu Rack of Lamb is highly recommended. The perfect accompaniment is the Markham Merlot. Take your time, the service is friendly and relaxed, and the ambiance is idyllic.

Bistro Molokini

Located in the opulent Grand Wailea, one of the top five luxury hotels on Maui, this restaurant offers a casually elegant setting and a tempting menu. The delicious scent wafting from the wood-burning oven hints of culinary delights to come. The menu is contemporary Continental, but most dishes feature local ingredients. From the Hawaiian Ahi Carpaccio appetizer to the Tartuffo Alla Maui (a dreamy, creamy vanilla/mango/chocolate/caramel blend), this is a Maui-style feast.

Humuhumunukunukuapua'a

The name of this restaurant is enough of a mouthful to be a meal in itself—many people shorten it to "Humuhumu." Aside from its name, the restaurant has also received high acclaim for its delicious seafood and its setting. It floats on a lagoon, surrounded by tropical flowers. The signature menu item is the spiny lobster, but be forewarned: it costs a pretty penny. To anyone who is still wondering about the name, it translates to the rather inexplicable phrase "Trigger Fish with a snout like a pig"—the Hawaiian state fish.

Ferraro's Bar e Ristorante

Located in the superlatively elegant Four Seasons Resort, Ferraro's is situated on a lovely golden sand beach. Your meal will be accompanied by the soft sounds of a violin and guitar. The first course can be chilled lemon grass marinated prawns or fried calamari. Then for an entree, feast on a whole Maine lobster. The wine list is sophisticated and eclectic. Expect to pay $50 for a good bottle of Burgundy. A coffee-sauce drenched tiramisu for dessert will round off an absolutely marvelous culinary experience seaside.
