Located in São Francisco district of the city, Memorial de Curitiba was established in 1996 to celebrate 300 years of the city's origin. Featuring various event venues within, the state-run cultural center often hosts events such as book launches, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. Also included in the structure is an auditorium with a seating capacity of 144 persons. The splendid building, an architectural landmark, is modeled after the Paraná pine, a domicile tree of South America.
Located in Centro district of the city, Paço da Liberdade is a part of Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC), the prestigious, not for profit organization that extends its help to Education, Health, Leisure, Culture and Medical sectors in the country. Paço da Liberdade, which literally translates to Palace of Freedom, features several facilities and services like library, complimentary internet and much more. Apart from this, the beautiful structure is often visited by students who are offered guided tours throughout the facility. Many events such as concerts, workshops, film screening and such are organized here throughout the year.
The Wire Opera House or Ópera de Arame in neighborhood of Pilarzinho is one of the most beautiful structures in the city. Designed by ace architect Dominic Bongestabs, the opera house is built almost entirely out of polycarbonate over steel, making it a completely see-through building. Overlooking an emerald pond and the surrounding woods, it looks like something right out of a fairytale. Built in 1992, the place seats a total of 2400 people.
