Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park

In the heart of over 2,000 acres of coniferous forest, you will find what was once the Washoe Territory. Once inhabited by the Washoe tribe, the expansive area was established as a state park in 1965. Featuring a picturesque landscape which invites visitors to immerse themselves in the history and beauty of the area, Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park is endowed with a spectacular natural heritage, with the park being conducive to both winter and summer activities. Embark on exciting hiking excursions or go for a swim in the summers. Winter sport enthusiasts can opt for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing should they happen to visit during the colder months. Camping is another popular recreational option here.

D. L. Bliss State Park

Covering 2,149 acres (870 hectares) of the Sierra Nevada mountains, D. L. Bliss State Park features miles of both rocky and sandy beaches on the magnificent shoreline of Lake Tahoe. Also available to visitors are picnic areas, camping sites, and several hiking trails. Cocoon yourself in nature and admire the beautiful variety of trees and plants indigenous to the Lake Tahoe area. Along with Ponderosa and Jeffrey pines, red and white fir, cedar, junipers, and cottonwood, the park is replete with gnarled and stunted sugar pines that grow in thin granite soil. Take a stroll along the Balancing Rock nature trail and see a 130-ton rock, a favorite attraction since the late 1800s, that balances precariously on a slender stone base. Plan on spending the entire day at the park, because once you get here, you won't want to leave.
