Xtreme Racing Center

Come down here to try your racing skills while seated in high-speed Sodi bumper/go-karts that fly at top speeds of 45 miles per hour! Both race tracks are fun for all ages, the first (and larger) track is meant for adults and the second is just for the kids. There is no need to provide a license while driving here either, however there are some height requirements and qualifications to use different types of karts. If you still seek more adrenaline, the Sky Surfer experience right next door provides more of the fun-fueled excitement.

In this case, the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area is right in the heart of Branson just off the bustling Strip. There are two main trails inside this hidden forest, the first one leads to Old Soldier's Cave and waterfall. The second trail provides visitors with an easier stroll that doesn't require too much effort. Moreover, it's the ideal spot to visit if you are staying in town and want to see some real Ozark country, but cannot make a full excursion to the backwoods.

Ruth & Paul Henning Conservation Area

This preserved area of the Ozarks located just outside of the Shepherd of the Hills neighborhood is a place of beauty and tranquility. More than 1500 acres of oak and hickory trees undulate over the hills where joggers, hikers and bikers mill about. The area is named after Paul Henning, the creator of old Hollywood TV shows like The Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction. It was named as such due to the fact that he donated the land previous to its use as a public space. There are several interpretive trails that are perfect for all ages and it's one of the closest places to escape the hustle-and-bustle of Branson without really going too far.

Here visitors can go fishing, hiking or take the bike on the trails around the beach. It's perfect for large groups because the veranda can hold over 75 people comfortably who want to grill, play volleyball or go for a swim without all the crowds. Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City is another wholesome family spot in Branson. The only difference is that this place has the beauty of the Ozarks complemented with the magnificent Marvel Cave below it. The Marvel Cave itself is an attraction, and the Herschend family knew this when they built the park in 1960. Today, in addition to rides and games both inside and out of the cave, SDC takes you back to a time when people living in these mountains created everything they needed using local materials. Guests can learn from artisans how to make products such as fresh candy, leather, pottery, and glass. You can even try your hand at glass blowing and/or pottery making from one of the workshops. While all this is okay for stuffy adults, the kids can escape the boredom and get an adrenaline rush from rides like Buzzsaw Falls, the Runaway Mine Train, Fire in the Hole, and the Wildfire Roller Coaster. During the year, the park hosts numerous festivals.

The park's onsite marina is a great location for casual strolls along its stunning eastern waterfront, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery and the crystal-clear lake.

Table Rock Lake

Spread across 43,100 acres (17,441 hectares) along the southwestern frontiers of Missouri and Arkansas' northwestern boundaries, the Table Rock Lake was formed in 1958 as a direct consequence of the damming of the turbulent White River. Its outskirts shelter a whole system of scenic harbors, which attract scuba divers, swimmers and boating enthusiasts from far and wide to its shores. Its exuberant waters nudge the Table Rock State Park's eastern fronts, sustaining the wildlife that flourishes within it. The artificial lake swarms with large shoals of trout throughout the year, making it an angler's paradise.

Lake Taneycomo

Under the placid waters of this artificial lake in the Ozarks, a plentiful population of rainbow and brown trout attracts avid fishing enthusiasts throughout the year. However, Lake Taneycomo was not always the cold-water, trout-teeming beauty that it is today. Its origins date back to 1913 with the construction of the Powersite Dam on the White River, when the river's warm waters swirled to create an ideal setting for swimming and water-skiing aficionados. Until 1958, this warm-water lake offered lovely recreational opportunities to summering visitors from nearby Branson and Rockaway Beach. With the advent of the Table Rock Dam that sourced waters from the depths of the eponymous lake, Lake Taneycomo soon embraced a colder disposition. While this resulted in dwindling summertime visitors, it rose to fame as one of the finest spots for trout fishing in the country. On any given day, one can enjoy Lake Taneycomo and all its jade-ringed beauty under the setting Ozark sun.
