This restaurant is an institution in Banff. The interior looks as if it was carved from the inside of a tree, with highly varnished wooden walls hung what looks like an entire herd of buffalo heads. The bizarre menu specializes in expensive fondue dinners featuring a veritable menagerie of meat: beef, ostrich, buffalo, rattlesnake, alligator, venison to name a few. The wine list features over 100 selections including a special list of Canadian wines. Dinner at the Grizzly House is an event to remember.
Each morning the aroma of freshly-baked breads and coffee spreads through the by-lanes of Bear Street in Banff leading you to the Wild Flour Banff's Artisan Bakery Cafe. Organic breads and croissants made from scratch and shaped with hands into little buns of delight are served through breakfast and lunch. Not only are the ingredients locally sourced but are also 100 percent organic. It's difficult to find vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian preparations in breads and bakes but not at Wild Flour. Make your mornings a joy by trying the whole wheat flaxseed waffles, bircher muesli or toast sandwiches. Spoil yourself with the cupcakes, tarts, brownies, scones, pies and muffins. Enjoy these with a choice of coffees. Evenings see this place transform into an event venue for workshops, exhibitions and classes. Hours of operation are subject to change.
