The Palace International is a great place and is renowned in Durham as one of the few places that provide authentic African food. Earlier established in 2001, this place was burnt down due to a freak accident but was reopened in 2007 and since then, the owner Maurice and Caren have been maintaining this restaurant on their own. They are dedicated to providing the best in contemporary and modern take on African cuisine along with many international dishes.
Lilly’s Pizza in vibrant Five Points is a local pizzeria serving organic pies topped with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Everything from the dough to the sauce is made from scratch daily, and the menu has plenty of healthy and vegetarian options to choose from. The Fiction Kitchen is a brightly-colored vegetarian restaurant with an innovative, seasonal menu. The restaurant began as a pop-up restaurant project and has evolved into a thriving culinary institution with a permanent location in Raleigh’s depot and warehouse district. Fiction is a temple to fresh, creative vegetarian cuisine: think succotash farro risotto or nori rolls with sashimi tofu. Absolutely everything served at the Kitchen is vegetarian and regionally-sourced, and most items are vegan. Fiction serves brunch on Sundays.
