Chaz's Bull City Records is a music shop where vinyl addicts find kindred spirits. The store is stocked from floor to ceiling with a great collection of new and used vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs. The staff, led by Chaz himself, is knowledgeable and equally friendly. Bull City is a local point of pride, and has opened a corollary co-op performance space, a record label, and manages an album of the month club.
The Bargain Box has been selling used clothing, accessories, and household items in the heart of Raleigh since 1951. Run by the Junior League of Raleigh, an organization of women committed to volunteerism, the Box aims to serve the local community by donating thousands of dollars of store credit to human service agencies. The Box is in fact one of the Junior League’s oldest and most successful fundraisers. Bargain treasures and affordable designer wear are available here in good, though lightly used condition.
Hidden on the second floor of a building in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Revolver is a stylish designer consignment boutique specializing in vintage and modern clothing. The boutique offers a collection of upscale designer wear, clothing and accessories by local designers, and a mix of vintage and retro styles. Customers looking for both budget finds and designer pieces will find something worthwhile. Revolver offers both men and women’s clothing, though an entire room is dedicated to menswear.
This vintage thrift store on three floors is a great place to find decorative objects and accessories. There is a nice collection of mid-century furniture, and a small warehouse worth of vintage books, art, and records. The second floor is home to Vintage and Southern Swank, where vintage clothing is found. Overall, the shop is over 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of mid-century and funk.
Antiques at Gresham Lake is a retail store specializing in antiques, collectibles, vintage goodies, home decor and furniture. Tables, chairs, shelves, teapots and even cutlery can be bought here. The collection is quite massive and well-curated. The store also hosts a flea market every spring where shoppers can enjoy great prices on most items on sale.
