Take in the beauty of the Low Country while astride a weight-shift controlled hang glider. Amphibian Air is Savannah's premier peddler of this exciting adventure and features crafts known as amphibious trikes. These contraptions are FAA certified and are ultra-lightweight and weight shift controlled. You'll start off on the water from which you'll take off, flying low and slow above the water. You will fly with an FAA-certified instructor who will teach you the basics of flying an amphibious trike and, if you feel up to it, will allow you to take over the controls for a portion of your flight. After your session, you will be given a certificate recording your training which you can use towards getting your sports pilot license.
The Roebling Road Raceway, previously known as the Savannah International Raceway, is a road racetrack built in 1959. The racetrack is available for rental, driving classes, and photo and video shoots. While the course does not have any viewing facilities for spectators, it does put on private events for businesses and groups that rent out the space. Get your friends or coworkers together for an action-packed afternoon flying around the track.
Inhabiting Chatham County's easternmost tip, Tybee Island is a steady progression of spotless golden sand surfaces, breathtaking waterfronts, and immaculate meadows. Once the ancestral home of the Euchee people, the barrier island was transformed into a city by the Spanish after discovering the barrier island by the 16th Century, also giving it the name Los Bajos. One of Georgia's most tourist-friendly destinations, this tropical wonderland is home to a host of interesting attractions such as the Tybee Island Light, the Fort Pulaski National Monument, Jaycee Park, Battery Garland and Mid Beach. The Beach Bum Parade and the Tybee Pirate Fest are held here every year.
