Synonymous with grandeur and resplendence, Dubai impresses and enthralls with its magnificent landmarks tied together with a tremendous thread of history, culture, and design. From iconic modern structures to remarkably mighty monuments, grand architectural marvels, and exquisitely luxurious buildings, the city wonderfully showcases its many masterpieces. An undisputable winner for visually rich monuments full of distinctive details and splendor, it is a haven for travelers looking to soak in the staggering sights. With so much to offer, it is a must-visit for its prominent man-made wonders!

Burj Khalifa

One of the most recognizable buildings in the world, the Burj Khalifa rises to a staggering height of 829.8 meters (2,722 feet). The towering edifice appears to pierce the sky itself, a glimmering vision of contemporary design that soars high above the rest of the city. Completed in 2010, the skyscraper broke records to become the world's tallest freestanding structure, beating landmark buildings such as the Petronas Towers and CN Tower. Its outdoor Observation Deck is set on the 124th floor and offers breathtaking views of the city, surpassed only by the Sky Deck on the 148th floor. The extravagant interiors only add to the building's appeal with the Armani Hotel on its lower levels and the At.mosphere restaurant on the 122nd floor. Apart from the structure itself, nearby landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa Park and The Dubai Fountain also form part of this downtown complex. The Burj Khalifa is synonymous with the city, as is evidenced by the myriad replicas of its iconic form fitted into souvenir stands and depicted on postcards.

The Dubai Fountain

Designed by the US-based WET Designs, who are also known for designing the iconic Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, the Dubai Fountain is spread across a sprawling 12.14-hectare (30 acres) area on the Burj Khalifa Lake. Considered to be one of the greatest choreographed fountains in the world, this marvelous structure features projectors equipped to present over 20 colors and more than 6,500 lights. Shooting jets of water to about 500 feet (152.4 meters) up in the sky, the musical fountain boasts of scintillating shows throughout the day. But as the sun sets, a fantastic vibe envelops the place - that's when a plethora of vibrant lights are turned on, bathing the entire area in a surreal glow. It is said that the fountain's upward-beaming light shines so bright that it can be seen from space. Whether or not it is visible from space, the lovely Dubai Fountain can definitely transport those gazing upon it to another world, owing to its magical illuminations, choreography, and music!

Dubai Frame

A bejeweled frame that vaults above Dubai's prolific landscape, this ethereal icon in Zabeel Park is more than just a pretty landmark. To unwitting passers-by, it offers dramatic views of some of the Emirate's most impressive visages, while for those who enter its dizzying limit, the vistas are dramatically life-altering. Once visitors journey up to its glass-encased interior, the full effect of this gorgeous structure comes into view. While virtual displays sweep you up in the storied heritage of Dubai's past, the glass-paneled passage showcases Dubai's metamorphosis from a fishing village to the dazzling legend it is today. As such, panoramas of old Dubai and new Dubai unfold before you in enchanting harmony. Designed and conceptualized by architect Fernando Donis, this tower however, is not entirely without controversy. The topic of the design's original creator still evokes contentious discussions, but it's safe to say that the frame's exquisiteness far transcends such trivialities.

Burj Nahar

Built somewhere around 1870, Burj Nahar was one of the many fortifications built to protect the old city of Dubai. The majestic watchtower still exudes a dignified grace and functions as the reminder of Emirati history. The tower as well as the area around it was restructured with pretty gardens in 1992. Located on Omar Bin Al-Khattab Road, in Deira district, it offers many photo opportunities, no matter what time of the day it is.
