The Palm Jumeirah is so amazing and unique it can be defined as Dubai's emblem. A beautiful Island that is connected to Dubai's mainland by thin strips of road, it is man made, which adds to its uniqueness. The island was created using reclaimed land and has been crafted in the shape of a palm tree, hence the name. The land consists of 16 leaf-like pathways, denoted by an alphabet, with a dome surrounding it. Construction work commenced in 2001 and went on for 5 years. Finally towards the end of 2006, this marvelous landmark was opened for commercial activities and tourism. A trip to the city is incomplete without a visit to Palm Jumeirah.
