Nestled amidst the enchanting landscapes of the Alps, Austria is graced with an array of charming and quaint towns. Bad Gastein

Situated in Hohe Tauern National Park, Bad Gastein is a picturesque resort town which is known for its therapeutic hot springs. The town is dotted with remarkable buildings from different eras of European history that lend an old-world charm to it. It offers opportunities for skiing, riding, fishing, climbing, trekking and cycling. The Bad Gastein Waterfall and the On Stubnerkogel Bridge are major attractions here. Zell am See

Zell am See is a beautiful Austrian town, home to the gorgeous Lake Zell. Here, skiing and snow boarding are popular activities for locals and travelers during winter, and when the weather is bright, the hiking trails across the rolling terrain of the town provide picturesque views for those who love the outdoors. Feldkirch

With trees and surrounded by distant, snow-capped mountains, Feldkirch is a unique, border town between Austria and Switzerland. The medieval old town which sprang into existence sometime in the 12th century is still intact with attractions like Schattenburg Castle, which stands proudly on a promontory and watches over the beautiful town, Ruins of Tosters which is another hillside castle near the town, and several privately owned grand villas built in the 19th century. While the history buffs may be fascinated by this, nature lovers should not miss out on the Feldkirch Wildpark, where unique local wildlife reside like fallow deer, Ibex (a kind of mountain goat), Red deer, wolves and a lot more.

Kufstein

Kufstein is a town with a long history, and as such, has many historical and stunning sights to offer. The most important of all is the Kufstein Fortress, massive ivory-hued bastion situated on a small hill, watching over the city. The Alstadt or old town is equally enchanting, with rustic houses and cobble stone streets, the most of the lot being the Römerhofgasse. Saint Vitus Church's baroque facade along with the remains of the city wall from the medieval times are other attractions worth exploring. Situated along the Inn river, the town is also surrounded by rolling hills and an overall verdant topography, adding further beauty to this historic town.

Overlooking the lake Wörthersee, Maria Wörth is a beautiful lakeside town. This popular summer holiday destination has a lot of fun activities in store for visitors of all ages. It is set at the edge of thriving woodlands, making it an ideal location for tourists to hike and explore. Get atop the observation deck on the Pyramidenkogel Tower and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the entire region.

Sankt Gilgen

Situated along the shores of the azure Wolfgangsee, Sankt Gilgen is known for its long ties with the Mozart family. While the parish church is best place to explore this connection, the gabled town hall and Falkensteinkirche are equally attractive. Lienz

Heiligenblut am Großglockner

Set in the midst of the Hohe Tauern mountain range, Heiligenblut am Großglockner is located in the state of Carinthia. The municipality of Heiligenblut am Großglockner includes villages like Rojach, Zlapp und Hof and Apriach. Explore the hiking paths in the undulating High Tauern National Park. Get atop the summit on Großglockner mountain and immerse yourself in the panoramic views it has to offer. Other major sights include the Gothic-style hilltop church which is named after Saint Vincent of Saragossa.

Millstatt

Located on the lake Millstätter See, Millstatt is a beautiful resort town. Towered by the Gurktal Alps, this lakeside town features several scenic locations that need to be explored. It is home to the 11th-century Millstatt Abbey, which is presently used for music concerts and festivals. Dating back to the Neolithic Age, many excavated artifacts are showcased at the old abbey’s museum.

Maria Alm

Maria Alm is a municipality in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It is a beautiful place and a popular tourist destination. Activities like cross-country skiing, golf, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, swimming, and tobogganing are largely enjoyed by visitors at this place. Majorly known for its winter tourism, the High King Mountain Ski Area is the prime attraction here. Located at the bottom of the majestic Alp Mountains, Maria Alm is a wonderful holiday getaway for kids as well as adults.

St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut

Located in central Austria, St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut is a market town on the northern shore of Lake Wolfgangsee. It has been named after bishop Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg and has featured in many television flicks in the past. Based at the foot of Schafberg Mountain, it is a popular winter skiing resort. Other sites of tourist interest in this scenic town include Schafbergbahn, the Hotel Weißes Rössl, and the pilgrimage church with a late-Gothic altarpiece. It is a lovely place set between mountains and a lake.

Seefeld in Tirol

Located in the state of Tyrol, Seefeld has witnessed a startling transformation through the many years, going from a farming village to a bustling ski resort. Its strategic location on the plateau between Westterstein Mountains and the Karwendel makes it an ideal location for enjoying winter sports. In the past, this village has also been the venue for the Winter Olympics. There is plenty of opportunity for year-round activities as well, which include Nordic walking and running, paragliding and riding. Besides sports, visitors can also enjoy Seefeld's many historical wonders such as the pilgrimage church of St. Oswald's, the Lake Church of the Holy Cross and ruined castle of Schlossberg which is located north of the village.
