Brauhaus Lemke is one of the oldest functioning microbreweries in Berlin; for a city that really loves beer, that's saying quite a lot. The brewery was started by Oli Lemke in 1998 when he put together his own brewing system in his garage. Friends helped him set up the brewing system in an old S-Bahn unit, and in 1999, the Brahaus Lemke served its first beer. Today, visitors can sample the brewery's excellent craft beers, and even take home some bottles of their very own. The brewery also serves up delicious traditional German fare to go with its brews.
Situated in Berlin's historic center, Zur Letzten Instanz is one of the few medieval buildings in the German capital which has survived the turbulence of past centuries. Built in 1621, Berlin's oldest restaurant was frequented by Napoleon Bonaparte during the French occupation of the city. Apparently, he used to sit by the oven and warm himself during the bitter winter months. The oven is still there, as too are the original wooden panels and spiral staircase. The picturesque beer garden is enclosed by the original medieval city walls. The restaurant serves up delicious German delicacies alongside German beer.
Established in 1992, Brauhaus Georgbräu boasts a wonderful location on the banks of the River Spree. Located in the heart of Berlin, this brewpub features an expansive beer garden, accommodating around 400 guests, that overlooks the gently flowing waters of the Spree. While reveling in this serene ambiance, diners can order a variety of freshly brewed beers, along with traditional German dishes that go perfectly with the pilsners this brewpub serves up.
Located in the heart of historic Altstadt Spandau, this Brauhaus unites all the things people love about German gastronomy: a traditional beer garden, great beer and hearty grub. All beer is brewed on the premises and is available in dark or light incarnations. Special beers are also brewed according to season or for special occasions. The food on offer is hearty, home-made German fare and can be accompanied by freshly baked beer bread and pretzels. Visitors can also take a guided tour through the brewery.
