Berghain Panorama Bar

The clientele of this techno factory is made up of an eclectic mix of hipsters, university professors, gays and other curious clubbers. Offering three colossal-sized stories notable for their clean, clever industrial design, Berghain hosts numerous bars, clubs, darkrooms, a biergarten, a separate garden for relaxing, an ice cream bar and endless amounts of chill-out space complete with cushy sofas and semi-private sitting cabins. The former power plant's mammoth size and hedonistic rawness guarantee a unique experience.

Madame Claude

One of the most exciting clubs in Berlin is still an insider's tip. Madame Claude is a whimsical nightclub that turns everything upside down in its literal sense: chairs on the ceiling and lamps on the floor; just the bar and some cozy sofas stand upright. Brilliant DJs and live bands offer a good mixture of Indie, Folk and Electro music every day starting at 7p and continue to thrill the guests with pulsating music till wee hours of the morning.

Lübbener Strasse 19, Berlin, Germany, 10997

A popular meeting point for Berlin's techno freaks and a top tip for a post- Love Parade party. Located in an old U-Bahn station, the interior is almost pitch black, meaning that you can really freak out on the dance floor and no one will notice! The place opens up at 10p everyday of the year and closes only when the sun is out, needless to say, some of the wildest parties happen here at Matrix. For more information on events, which take place all year round, check out their website.

Warschauer Platz 18, Berlin, Germany, 10245
Junction Bar

Junction Bar is a music oasis in the middle of Kreuzberg with a smoky, dark and somewhat offbeat flair. Now well established, this fun venue hosts both well-known as well as local bands. The emphasis is definitely on different types and kinds of music, be it funk, soul, Jazz or rap. There are several days dedicated to live music by various bands and for DJ nights as well. A friendly, leather jacket-wearing crowd. A classic of its kind.

Gneisenaustrasse 18, Berlin, Germany, 10961

This bar is open from 8p till the wee hours of the morning, until the last one makes a decision to leave. Meet in this gay bar with your friends for a fantastic night out. Various theme nights make it a lively place throughout the week. Come down to the edge of Kreuzberg to celebrate in the midst of a hip and trendy crowd. Evenings are filled with top class entertainment by stand-up comedians, DJ performances, Karaoke, and a lot more!

Mehringdamm 62, Berlin, Germany, 10961
Salon Zur Wilden Renate

The Salon Zur Wilden Renate is nothing if not unusual. Housed within an old apartment building, the nightclub lies sprawled over multiple levels, with several bars, hidden corridors and dance floors to discover. The decor is eclectic, with comfy sofas and cozy nooks where you can rest your feet for a while and enjoy a drink or two. Dark and colorful; relaxed and exuberant; Salon Zur Wilden Renate is an intriguing paradox that is complemented perfectly by a lovely garden area. With a stellar line-up of top DJs to boast, the Salon Zur Wilden Renate is both substance and flash. Like most clubs in Berlin, the party starts late, so don't be surprised if the place is empty when you arrive at 1a.

Alt Stralau 70, Berlin, Germany, 10245

The oldest and most successful jazz club in town, Quasimodo features newcomers as well as some of the biggest names in the jazz and blues scene. Tuesday nights are reserved for local bands and Wednesdays for a jam session. The other nights feature a variety of musicians from the broad field of jazz. Artists who have performed here in the past include Taj Mahal, Branford Marsalis, the James Taylor Quartet, Steve Coleman and Manu Dibango. Admission prices vary depending on the night and performer; call for details.
