El Peruanito Ray

The next big food trend to hit South America is Peruvian sandwiches and juices. Formerly known as El Chalaco, this fast food corner joint specializes in ten different kinds of sandwiches and over 20 types of fresh juices. Most popular to order for delivery or take away, this small spot consists of a small bar and just a few tables on the sidewalk. Each sandwich comes with a choice of French fries, mandioca fries or sweet potato fries. Additionally, you can never go wrong with ordering the Pollo Parillero, which is grilled chicken breast marinated in a special sauce topped with tomato, lettuce, Peruvian cheese and pancetta. - Alexandra Lazar

Nuestra Parrilla

There's a reason why tourists and locals alike line up at this neighborhood parrilla that just has enough room for a few bar stools and a grill. Literally a hole-in-the-wall, this San Telmo spot (just a half block from Plaza Dorrego) is known for their sandwiches: choripan (chorizo sausage sandwich), morcipan (blood sausage sandwich), and vacíopan (flank steak sandwiches). Furthermore, you can just smother the good stuff with chimichurri sauce or salsa criolla, grab a liter of Quilmes beer, and sit curbside watching the San Telmo crowds. - Alexandra Lazar

Sr. Patata

Spanish potato chain Sr. Patata has opened up shop in Buenos Aires bringing Argentina's first stuffed baked potato spot. A great change from empanadas and milanesas, Sr. Patata offers a handful of varieties of jacket potatoes, including flavors like chicken curry, vegetarian, seafood and sweet corn with tuna. Located on a busy pedestrian walk way in Retiro, this remains a perfect spot to grab a papa asada and people watch. - Alexandra Lazar

Pepino

Located on one of the fanciest streets in Acasusso, Pepino has attracted the fancy car and high-end motorcycle crowd for years. Bike and car enthusiasts park their vehicles on the broad sidewalk located on the side of the restaurant and discuss their hardware for hours on the extensive outdoor seating out front. The place is informal and always packed both indoors and outdoors. The most popular item on the menu is the hamburger, which can be enjoyed with classic fries and a Coke.
