Three Dots and a Dash

Inspired by the Morse code for victory, Three Dots and a Dash was a cocktail drink invented by Don the Beachcomber during World War II. Owner and mixologist Paul Mcgee named his brainchild after this popular drink. Three Dots and a Dash blends a traditional tiki bar feel with modern elements. The menu features typical rum concoctions like Mai Tai, Halekulani, Pago Pago, Jet Pilot, and the eponymous Three Dots and a Dash. The food menu includes classic island fare and specialty items like marinated shrimp and pineapple and sweet potato curry.

Blue Chicago

If you love jazz and are scrolling for an amazing spot to feel all that soul-stirring blues music, look no further than Blue Chicago. Located in the River North entertainment district, this popular nightclub is rather small but very friendly, with a nice selection of beverages and, of course, live music. The nightclub offers a great line-up of concerts with impressive names like Bonnie Lee and Koko Taylor as well as upcoming artists. Drop in with your friends and connect over soothing music after a long day at work, and be sure of a great evening ahead!

Beauty Bar Chicago

A beauty salon and a bar all wrapped up in one location—what more could someone ask for? The Beauty Bar is the ideal fusion of taste, modernity, and nostalgia. The first bar in Chicago with a beauty salon motif, the Beauty Bar, serves Martinis as you have your nails done. The venue hosts DJ nights and other entertaining events that add to the experience's allure. The best thing is that the music here is a fantastic blend of 90s classics, rap, pop, punk, alternative, and R&B because it was a 90s night. But because the lineups might be lengthy, be sure to arrive early, and for further details, visit their website.

The Wormhole Coffee

The Wormhole Coffee, as its name suggests, is a cafe based on "time travel'. And you might think about dropping by here when you want to unwind or just come over to work on your laptop with a cup of coffee by your side. The free wifi, large seating tables, and quiet space make it amazing to get some serious work done. Also, if you are coming over with friends, Wormhole has some real fun. The tables and the dining area are adorned with '80s superhero toys, a Delorean, red high school lockers, and Atari games. In terms of cuisine, pre-packaged sandwiches, standard baked goods, and well-brewed coffee are all available at the register. The variety of muffins and doughnuts available to vegans will be welcomed. Try their distinctive peanut butter-flavored coffee, which isn't offered in your neighborhood cafe.

Kingston Mines

Kingston Mines is one of the oldest and best blues clubs in town. As you listen to the likes of Jimmy Johnson, Eddie C. Campbell, and Billy Branch, you can also eat a variety of Southern-style food from the kitchen. And, if you cannot wait for the next band to start, you just have to cross the room to the second stage, where another band is sure to already be underway. By evening's end, the rowdy crowd sometimes has a hard time navigating from room to room, but that's all part of the down-to-earth atmosphere in a club that encourages its clientèle to be as loud and rambunctious as they please.

2548 North Halsted Street, Chicago, IL, United States, 60614
Map Room

Owners Mark and Laura Blasingame have made the Map Room into an expression of their love for world travel and good beer. The walls are lined with bookshelves housing a variety of atlases and travel guides, with free WiFi available to help plan your next world voyage, and perhaps most importantly, the draught beer list includes a variety of exciting imports. Aside from beer, the Map Room also offers a fully stocked bar and locally sourced grounds to create their gourmet coffee drinks. While the bar doesn't serve food, they do allow you to bring in your own and even have local restaurant menus behind the bar that you can order from.

Green Mill Cocktail Lounge

A landmark for jazz music in Chicago, Green Mill Jazz Club is a must-visit for aficionados of this genre. Going back to 1907, this place is steeped in history, with photographic testaments and artifacts dotting its walls. Back in the early 20th Century, this club was American gangster Al Capone's local haunt. Over the years, it retained its old-world charm and the aura of the Prohibition era, with Art Deco interiors to its credit. On the menu are signature cocktails and spirits. This lounge plays host to jazz concerts by established and emerging musicians. Also, don't miss their popular Poetry Slam event.
