Farragut Square

Farragut Square is the epicenter of corporate Washington DC, so it should not be surprising to spot several individuals with a serious demeanor. Nonetheless, the square has an upbeat ambiance where picnickers can enjoy the sounds of street musicians in summer. Here, a statue of Civil War Admiral David Farragut stands in the middle of the square with a telescope in his hands. Farragut is prominent for coining the phrase “Full speed ahead!” during the 1864 Battle of Mobile Bay, Alabama. With a central location ideal for relaxation and community events, visitors come here for the vibrant atmosphere and greenery.
