Possibly the most futuristic watering-hole in the city. Gleaming chrome and glass are the main features of this superbly designed (although some have said over-designed) multi-million pound bar. Ultra-modern and very shiny, with bar and restaurant on different levels, Bar Pacific was custom built in 1997. Cocktails are on offer as well as the usual range of beers and spirits, and the cafe serves excellent food, although is perhaps a little pricey. The service is with a twist as each table features a pager, which you can use to summon someone to serve you! As you would expect it gets busy at the weekends so prepare to queue, but once inside keep an eye out for the many local celebrities who can be spotted hanging out there.

Florita's is a Miami themed bar which is known for its lively parties and zippy cocktails. The graffitied walls, the crowded-together framed photos and the mood lighting creates an intimate yet trendy ambiance. Each night, the bar follows a different theme, for instance, Monday is 80's Miami while Wednesdays are for DJ nights and discounted mojitos. The guest list for each event keeps changing and keeps things interesting and fresh no matter how many times you happen to visit. Open till the wee hours of the morning, this is a great place to party the night away.

A lively bar and cafe located in Ouseburn, Ernest likes to mix things up. With a host of events and programs planned every other night, this joint is constantly making an effort to keep things interesting. On Saturdays, one can experience a series of free and open events that leaves lots of space for some merry eating, drinking and dancing. Other weekday nights sees exciting Tango Tuesdays and even an upcoming film night. After a night of partying, hang around for some sumptuous breakfast here and munch on some classic scrambled eggs on toast with a latte for company.

The south-facing wall of this huge, architecturally splendid, modern building is completely made of glass, and offers drinkers a view that is arguably one of the best on Tyneside. Situated at the eastern end of the Quayside, Pitcher & Piano looks across the river from the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, and is at the northern end of the spectacular Gateshead Millennium Bridge, as well as having panoramic views of the Tyne's other bridges. The bar serves food and Sunday roasts along with its excellent collection of wines and cocktails. You can also hire out an area for private functions.
