This expansive restaurant is perfect for big groups, and is placed right between Downtown and Midtown. A large bar anchors one side of the main floor in this restored warehouse setting, while tables and booths are sectioned off into more intimate dining areas. A billiards room and a smaller bar are upstairs, and a large deck provides outdoor dining opportunities. Ribs, steaks, fish and pasta dishes are featured, as well as wood-fired pizza and some nice vegetarian dishes. Be sure to try one of Max's specialty beers, too, brewed on-site.
Established in 2009, Hop City Craft Beer & Wine is a brewery and winery in midtown Atlanta. Boasting of one of the largest collections of beers in the United States, Hop City specializes in craft brews, but also offers a small selection of home brews and wines. A years within its opening, this place was rated as one of the best breweries in the city by various Atlanta publications, and were noted for having a stellar wine collection. Relocating from Colorado to Atlanta in 1997, Sweetwater Brewery has brought a western flavor to the burgeoning Georgia microbrewery scene. As many as six different kinds of beer are brewed under the Sweetwater label at any given time, depending on the season and the progress of new recipes. The company's impressive brewing and bottling facility also offers tours. While most people enjoy the interesting and informative tour, the most popular stop is the last, where guests are invited to partake of a sampling of recent batches.
This charming microbrewery is the oldest operating one in Georgia. Formerly known as Atlanta Brewing Company, Red Brick offers well-received tours and tastings throughout the week. Their core brands of beer include Blonde, Brown, Pale Ale and Porter, as well as some other specialty labels such as Brick Mason (which features the popular "Gorilla Vanilla" porter, aged in Tennessee Whiskey barrels) and Laughing Skull Amber Ale.
Established in 2012, BlueTarp Brewing Co. opened with much fanfare as the only full-fledged brewery in the city. Its popularity has only grown since, with its signature creations making their presence felt in Decatur as well as Atlanta's beer scene.
