The Soiled Dove is a cross between a bar and a concert hall, with a half-moon configuration that holds up to 400 people at a time - yet customers are never more than 45 feet (13.8 meters) from the stage, which plays host to some of today's most accomplished artists. The Buell Theatre is an impressive and grand theater in Denver, Colorado. It is a popular venue that hosts extravagant Broadway musicals and stunning performances. Herman's Hideaway is reputed to be one of the best places to see live music in Denver. The club could easily pass for a biker bar and takes pride in its scruffy look. The inside is dark and smoky and bars line both sides of the room. The hottest local bands rock the club during the week and occasionally you will see a national act take the stage. Among some of the accomplished artists who played here in the past are the Dave Matthews Band, and the homegrown jam group Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
With its calendar loaded with a plethora of events throughout the year, Newman Center For The Performing Arts is one of the premier performing arts and cultural centers in Denver. This state-of-the-art center comprises a number of facilities like the acoustically splendid June Swaner Gates Concert Hall, the flexible Elizabeth Eriksen Byron Theatre, the elegant Frederic C. Hamilton Family Recital Hall and the Joy Burns Plaza which also doubles up as the lobby for the other venues. In the past, the center has been host to the performances of artists and groups like Ballet Hispanico, Jane Monheit, Brad Mehldau Trio, and several other performers in varied fields of entertainment. The Gothic Theatre has an illustrious history. Started in the twenties, the theater was more than just a place for films, it was a place to meet friends and family. It was also the first theater in Denver to show talking movies. Today the grand art deco style of the theater is still dominant and it has now been turned into a world-class music center. In keeping with the move, the Gothic has installed state-of-the-art sound and light systems, doing justice to visiting bands like The Rebirth Brass Band.
