"Aachen's Popular Protestant Church"
Annakirche is a famous religious center for the Protestant community of the city. The former monastery church was constructed on the site of a medieval abbey church. Built according to the plans of German architect- Johann Joseph Couven, it was was finally consecrated in 1749. Over the years, the church suffered severe damages during the French occupation and World War II. It was restored in 1950- 1951 and has since been serving the locals of Aachen. The pulpit altar and the mesmerizing organ are some of the distinctive features of the church.
