Two descents are possible from here: the Toula, an extraordinary experience among seracs and granite, which takes skiers down tot he Paillon station, and, if the snow is ideal, down to the Piazzale del Tunnel del Monte Bianco. Considering the wideness and vastness of this area, it is important to know that it is possible to plan a different itinerary for every descent. On the other side is the Vallée Blanche descent, which leaves at an altitude of 3462 meters (11358.27 feet) at Punta Helbronner and arrives in Chamonix, at a height of 1030 meters (3400 feet). This route is 24 kilometers (15 miles) long, and passes glaciers and granite pinnacles and leads from Mont Blanc to the European capital of Alpine skiing, crossing the Mer de Glace. It is fundamental to remember that it is best to make sure you are accompanied by an Alpine guide on all these descents, and that the high mountain routes are not signposted or controlled, and should therefore only be attempted with the necessary preparation, equipment, and an Alpine guide or ski instructor.
Notre Dame de Guérison sanctuary is a major attraction in Courmayeur, Italy. It is very popular among tourists because of the landscape, the convenience of travel and its proximity to a well known tourist resort. This lake is 2066 meters (6778 feet) above sea level. It is about two hectares (about five acres) in size. It was formed by the erosion of sedimentary rock dating back to the Carboniferous period. The lake is between Monte Charvel and Becca Poignenta on the left. There is also Monte Colmet. Water flows down this mountain and runs in cascades into the lake. It is the outlet of the Pietra Rossa Lake. On the righthand side, there is the Colle della Croce. The water of Arpy Lake has mixtures of colors which vary between brown, green and pale-blue. The lake has lots of fish and you can see many animals nearby like chamois, roebucks, golden eagles, roosters, hares and marmots.
On the road to the San Carlo Hill, if you go on to La Thuile, you come across the Preylet picnic area. It lies beyond the village and is easily reached because it can be clearly seen from the road leading to the threshold of Piccolo San Bernardo. It takes you to the Bourg St. Maurice area and is an alternative route (in the summer season, when it is not closed on account of the snow) to the Mont Blanc tunnel. The picnic area covers two-and-a-half hectares (over six acres), and has 40 sites (two benches and a wooden table per "site"), as well as two for disabled visitors. So that visitors can prepare the perfect picnic, there are 22 stoves (to cook meat or grilled vegetables, "sulla losa"), 14 rubbish deposits, three fountains and two toilets (one for disabled visitors). It can accommodate around 250 people.

This lake is at an altitude of 2555 meters (8380 feet) and has a large surface area of seven-and-half hectares. It was formed as a result of erosion, and is located inbetween the Testa of Liconi, the Testa del Curru and the Guglia di Chambave. Go up to the hill here and you will discover an incomparable view of the surrounding area including the massif of Monte Bianco, which dominates the region. This is one of the largest natural lakes in the area and has a unique color, that is close to bottle green. There is also good fishing here. Near the hill of Piccolo San Bernardo, the border pass between France and Italy here can only be used in good weather. This lake is 30 minutes walk from Lago Verney and has an altitude of 2,294 meters (7526 feet). Lago Verney Superiore has a surface area of about one hectare (two-and-a-half acres) and is above the left promontory of the Vallone del Breuil. The view from here is hardly outstanding, but it is near the lower Lago Verney and the pass of Piccolo San Bernardo and the color of the water is very deep and enchanting and is a dark green shade.
