Founded by the 3rd Lord Madertie, David Drummond, Innerpeffray Library is renowned as Scotland's earliest lending book room. Established in the year 1680, Innerpeffray Library is home to a vast collection of 3000 titles. The collection includes many bibles and the earliest one is in French which dates back to 1530. A pocket bible from its collection is of significant historic and religious interest. Also in French, this small bible dates back to 1633 and it belonged to Drummond's brother-in-law, 'Great Marquis of Montrose.' A visit to Innerpeffray Library lets you marvel at the bygone era and explore its ancient books and the history of Innerpeffray.
