"War Memento"
Created in the year 1941, Cultybraggan Camp originally served as a war billet for prisoners of war during World War II. The camp was built to accommodate around 4000 Category A war captives. Post war, Cultybraggan Camp was converted into an army training facility. In the year 1960, the site was home to a nuclear monitoring base owned Royal Observer Corps. Today, Cultybraggan Camp remains one of the few prisoner of war camps in UK to exist in its original layout. Several Nissen chalets set up on the site during the war years virtually remain unchanged.
