Catedral Metropolitana Basílica do Senhor Bom Jesus

With a history dating back to the 1722, Catedral Metropolitana Basílica do Senhor Bom Jesus is one of the oldest places of worship in the city. The current church building was constructed in 1973 in an effort to revitalize ancient structure. Though none of the original structure from the 18th Century exists today, the church building, is nonetheless, a magnificent edifice sporting breathtaking architectural detail.
