Established in 1942, Cine Teatro Cuiaba is one of the oldest entertainment venues in Cuiabá. It was pivotal in the development of artistic expression in the city. It was left in a state of disrepair for more than ten years, after which, it underwent major renovations and reopened to the audience in 2009. This beautiful yellow-shaded structure in Cuiabá's Centro Sul neighborhood, was built to house weapons in the early 19th Century. In 1989, more than a century later, the Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC) acquired possession of this building and transformed it into a cultural center. Since opening its doors as an entertainment hub in 2001, Serviço Social do Comércio SESC - Arsenal has been delighting audiences with various creative acts. Movie theater, library, event spaces, dance hall, exhibition room and a souvenir store are located on site.
