Fonte Maria Lata D'Agua

"Dedicated to the Hardworking Woman"

Located on the square, outside Paço da Liberdade, Fonte Maria Lata D'Agua is a concrete statue of a woman carrying a pail of water on her head. Located on the backyard of Paço da Liberdade, this statue was unveiled in 1996. The inspiration for the creation of this statue was drawn from the poem "Água para o Morro", by locally popular poet, Erbo Stenzel. The lines talk about a woman named Maria, who balances her daily chores while struggling to earn her living.
