Named after Carlisle Cravens, former president of Arlington National Bank, Cravens Park is one of the most popular recreation zones in the neighborhood. Stretched at a massive 86 acres (34.8 hectares) this park is a dream destination for sports enthusiasts and fun-seekers alike with its six baseball fields, a basketball court, a fishing zone and several picnic spots and playgrounds. The park also contains a pavilion which hosts a number of local events throughout the year.
Spread over 14 acres (5.66 hectares), Lakeside Park is a must-visit with family or friends. People can spend their time taking strolls on one the park’s numerous paths, or enjoy picturesque views of Turtle Creek Dam from the on-site bridge. The park has a number of quirky Teddy Bear statues, much to the delight of children and adults alike. The park is also home to the Read Memorial. Home to the Dallas Cowboys’ world headquarters, the Star in Frisco is not only on the bucket list of many of the team’s fans, but the complex also features a 12,000 seat stadium, as well as a well-developed training facility for NFL. Local sports and community events also take place here. The site is also home to a number of offices, retail outlets, a hotel as well as restaurants. The homestead of the fictional Ewing family has become the “world's most famous ranch.” The sprawling acreage of this North Texas ranch is located 20 miles north of downtown Dallas and, although the long-running television series Dallas has been off the air for several years, the mansion and grounds are still a popular place to visit. Tram tours carry guests on a voyage through the history of the series every half-hour throughout the day. The Ewing mansion is the key point of the tour, offering insight to the characters and filming of the series.
Frontiers of Flight Museum is an assembly of artifacts celebrating the chronicles of flight. From the Wright brothers to the space age, each display is carefully organized to provide in-depth information on aircraft history. Exhibited models are on loan from the University of Texas at Dallas' Collection of Flight, one of the largest aviation archives in the country. Highlights include Hindenburg artifacts and the Apollo 7 spacecraft.
