A local favorite, this bar has been relocated for the fourth time in its history. The building was moved during a midnight trek to its current home at 2nd Ave and Brazos. Construction continues and the bar is scheduled to re-open Labor Day weekend. Regardless of location, it is a great stop before heading out on the town or just for sitting outside on a beautiful evening. The Mexican Martini's are a local favorite; however, they do pack a punch.
This three-story bar is home to one of Austin's best margaritas. Relax on the rooftop bar and watch the crowd meander up Sixth Street, or sit downstairs as the crowds bustle past the huge windows. Patrons enjoy live music at night and during the day, the full-service Southwestern restaurant provides a convenient range from late lunch to happy hour, or dinner to dancing.
The Rooftop on 6th is a bar located in the popular Sixth Street area in downtown Austin. Its posh interiors are replete with a black chandelier at the entrance, impressive burgundy walls and dark wooden fixtures. Its fashionable crowd, groovy live bands and DJs, and the exuberant dancing makes this place stand out from other bars, pubs and nightclubs in the area. Despite the great music, the volume is kept low enough to aid guests in conducting meaningful conversations over glasses of liquor. Head here when you are feeling lonely and this place will put an end to your depressing mood in no time. No wonder, it is the bar of choice to spend quality time with friends as well as make new ones.
This Sixth Street bar makes libraries fun again by having a new take on the traditional library. Here it's all about making it loud, making it rowdy and making it fun. The crowd mostly consists of college kids, but mature personalities sometimes appreciate the ironic juxtaposition of decorator books and, on the second floor, pool and air hockey tables. The DJ starts the evening with Top-40 and progresses into dance music. This bar is especially popular on Friday and Saturday nights when Sixth Street is limited to foot traffic.
