Located at the Nathan Phillips Square, the Nathan Phillips Square Ice Skating Rink makes for an excellent winter recreation destination for people of all ages. This rink is located across the Toronto City Hall, and is partly covered by a glass arch. Scores of people can be seen gliding along the ice at any given time of the day, with the rink being well maintained and cleaned regularly. The on-site snack bar is a popular spot to grab a hot dog after a fun skating session. Please note the rink is only open in winter.
Riverdale Farm is a place that will have you experiencing the country life, even while you're still in the city. This attraction is open for visitors everyday, and features expansive farms that are lined with woods and small water features. The farm was built on a former zoo site, and one can visit farm animals such as ducks, goats, pigs and sheep now, instead of wild animals. The historic barn on the farm must be visited, and the farm grounds are often the venue for local cultural events as well.
The Kay Gardner Beltline Park is characterized by the Beltline Trail that was established way back in 1892. Although the railroad functioned only till 1894, the railroad has escaped any major redevelopment even today. Passing over the infamous Yonge Street, this defunct railway route offers many inspiring panoramas that are extremely different from typical Toronto scenes in general. Peaceful and quiet, the park makes for a great intimate lunch spot.
