Kramerbooks and Afterwords

1517 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC, USA, 20036
Bourbon Coffee

Bourbon Coffee opened in Kigali Rwanda in 2007. Since then, it has expanded its specialty coffee shop to United States, where it became the first retail brand of coffee sold in the US to originate in Rwanda. The coffee shop proudly promotes the "crop to cup" philosophy: being a part of each stage of the coffee making process means supporting local Rwandan economies, promoting sustainable practices, and ultimately providing customers with a better cup of coffee. While you're at the coffeehouse, be sure to try one of the local baked goods for sale, and check out the Rwandan art and baskets displayed throughout the shop.

2101 L Street Northwest, Washington, DC, USA, 20037
La Colombe

La Colombe's motto is "Taste always trumps novelty." In this case, we are inclined to agree with the stylish cafe. Whether they're pulling an espresso, brewing drip coffee, or perfecting the art of the pour-over, La Colombe knows what its doing. The company, which has several other locations throughout the east coast places an emphasis on making the best cup of coffee with the best coffee beans available. In addition to their awesome brewing skills, their beans come from eco-friendly coffee growers around the world, which makes each sip taste that much better.

A bright pink bicycle greets you at the entrance of this little cafe located in Georgetown. Step in through the all-glass facade to discover a lively space and an enticing display of baked goodies. The colorful cupcakes taste as good as they look. From cakes and cookies to pies and quiches, you'll find a whole lot of freshly baked delights here. To accompany your treats, they offer a stellar selection of coffee from Stumptown, Intelligentsia, Madcap and other renowned roasters.

Ebenezers Coffeehouse

Owned and operated by the National Community Church, this is a non-profit establishment. This coffee shop has a meeting space that can accommodate 100 guests and hosts poetry sessions, concerts, and other events. All of the proceeds are utilized for community programs. Sidamo Coffee and Tea

Get some work done at one of Sidamo's tables, or catch some rays on the cafe's backyard patio. Wherever you choose to sit, be sure to grab one of Sidamo Coffee and Tea's delicious brews and pick out a breakfast bagel to go along with it. If you happen to be in the area around lunch time, never fear - there are plenty of lunch options to choose from as well. Sidamo Coffee and Tea places an emphasis on serving only fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee, so you can feel good about your choice for both its flavor and its environmental impact.

417 H Street Northeast, Washington, DC, USA, 20002
Peregrine Espresso

Peregrine can mean several things: foreign, wandering, and migratory. And yet, it seems that Peregrine Espresso has found its permanent home in the Washington DC area, where the cafe has been met with acclaim and awards. The cafe, which serves a range of drinks and pastries, from traditional espresso to global drip coffee, has been ranked on Bon Appetit's Top 10 Boutique Coffee Shops and USA Today's Top 10 Best Coffeehouses Across the USA. If the accolades don't pique your interest, then stop by Peregrine Espresso to try their offerings for yourself - you're sure to be impressed.
